The Empire
The Empire used the power of the elements to cultivate their lands.
Windmills use the power of the air, brooks are diverted to nurture
the thirsty crops and the earth's clay is made into homes to provide
shelter form the rising sun. It was the endless cycle of nature they
had mastered for domestic and military affairs. However their
understanding of astronomy taught them, that there was one missing
element. This last element held an unknown power and in all previous
ages they had never found it.
After the collapse of the Portal, spirits weren't the only ones leaving
the Netherworld. Dark Matter escaped from the Netherworld and drifted
through the Crimson lands. Reports say that the people that had gotten
in contact with Dark Matter became much stronger than military training
of the other elements could ever make you.
Therefore, this became an issue of political power and Dark Matter was
sought after more so than ever. Onmyodo Gangclubs housed those that
extort, bribe and lie to anyone in the pursuit of Dark Matter; it is an
adventurer's guild where no rules are made.
Because the Empire's elemental training was effective against the
Raven Wings, it provided grounds for barter with the Oppressors, whose
only threat, were the Raven Mockers and its large Initiate army.
